Dott, the responsible European micromobility company, reports a rise in demand for its shared e-bikes and e-scooters throughout 2022. With more people choosing sustainable vehicles to travel across their cities, the operator delivered a record number of rides, almost doubling against 2021.

The total number of rides on Dott’s vehicles grew by 94% compared to 2021, with an increase of 92% in the number of riders. Over 74 million km was travelled across all trips, that’s equivalent to 1,866 times around the earth, or 195 trips to the moon!

In a year of dramatically increased fuel prices, Dott’s electric vehicles provide a low cost, and environmentally friendly solution for travel in city centres. The average trip distance was 2.2km, 11% more than in 2021, and lasted 11 minutes.

With rising inflation and the cost of living putting people’s finances under pressure, more people are using passes to ensure greater value. 41% of trips now take place using a pass, with usage moving from occasional to regular. The peak time for use was during the morning commute between 08:00-10:00

Henri Moissinac, Co-Founder and CEO, Dott said: “We are seeing a shift from occasional, leisure use to becoming a regular and everyday solution for travel in our cities. Fuel price rises and increased living costs are leading people to seek affordable and sustainable travel solutions. Our e-bikes and e-scooters provide a cheaper and more environmentally friendly solution than cars, without sacrificing time or efficiency.”

The environment and social impact are at the heart of every business decision at Dott. The micromobility company has set out its goals and progress at ridedott.com/sustainability.
